After hermiting along with the rest of the world in the Spring and Summer of 2020, I was moved in the Fall (my favorite season!) to venture back out into the world with a local gift shop full of words. Words for hearts, minds and souls intended to help comfort, uplift, inspire, transform and connect the spaces between us. Words for weddings, anniversaries or a birthday around the corner. Words for a friend, family member or colleague to express appreciation, encouragement or sympathy? Words and art as prints, cards, posters, bookmarks, magnets, guided journals, books and more! Or in some of my favorite books that live in my Book, Mind & Thinker corner until someone takes them home.

The shop's 'Book, Mind and Thinker' corner features my favorite all-time inspiring books, some in keepsake editions like the illustrated slipcover edition of Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist, and the 75th Anniversary edition of The Little Prince with the story of its making and some of the original sketches for the book. And then there's Douglas Woods' award-winning Old Turtle, and The Illuminated Rumi, translated by Coleman Barks. Other favorites such as Parker Palmer's Healing the Heart of Democracy and Stephen Cope's The Great Work of Your Life. And of course, books by friends and colleagues--Ilene Angel's How to Calm the Hell Down and Be Happy, Saskia Shakin's More Than Words Can Say~The Making of Inspired Speakers, and soon-to-be-released, Feeling in the Gap, a first collection of passionate, moving poetry by Canadian poet Joni Grace. And of course my own books are included, as well as the Words Matter line of Journals and Listkeepers, which are available here on the website.

Cozy Handwarmers & Shoulder Bags
Warm heart, cold hands? Fall is my favorite season, but as soon as it's below 65, my hands start getting cold. So I found the perfect solution about 5 years ago at Local Color Gallery in Brevard, NC--100% Cotton Handwarmers with the fingers totally free for writing/typing, phone stuff, etc. And a handy way to not touch stuff out in the world right now by just pulling them down over your fingers. So now I have a zillion of them in my shop! In addition to turtle neck sweaters, they are my ever-constant from October through March! Hands cold at night too? Some people even sleep in them! Also pictured here are a few of our Fair Trade shoulder bags that sold quickly, but we just received another two dozen, all handmade from recycled cotton fabrics. |
