Storytelling has been a way to preserve and pass down the aspirations, ways and wisdoms of people and cultures since the dawn of humankind. Few literary and entertainment styles, if any, are more compelling and resonant to the human psyche than storytelling. You might be presenting the most erudite, simple or complex concepts, guidance or instruction with the most powerful and inspired words -- and maybe, or maybe not, hold the reader’s attention for long passages of words and time. But give an example with a story or “case history,” and you’ve suddenly got the reader’s full attention. Through story, you’re not telling your readers what to learn – you’re letting them discover it for themselves – and the parts of the story that will resonate with them are the things that they most need and are ready to hear in that very moment.
This module will explore the elements of story, and how to support your ideas, wisdoms and instructions with stories and anecdotal experiences. A short writing assignment will be given to you to be reviewed by Terah before the webinar and shared with the class for group feedback.
