Excerpt from #1 Gospel Song recorded by Grammy-winning artist Clay Crosse, with Lyrics by Terry Cox / Music by Arnie Roman & Eric Bibb.
Artist statement...The lyrics for this song came to me on a flight coming back to NY from Sweden where I had been co-writing songs for a record project. I looked out the airplane window and saw clouds in the shape of a stone grotto and heard the words, “the rock that was rolled away” – and the rest of the lyrics rolled out from there! The rock scene here is a picture I took while hiking in Dupont Forest near Cedar Mountain, NC (where "The Last Mohicans" and "The Hunger Games" were filmed). I was struck by the contrasting elements -- the fire-red "burning bush" like the fires of purification, and the flowing water which also purifies and has the softening force to find passage through the hardest stone. Metaphors galore!
