(Excerpt of lyrics by Terry Cox, Music by Jeff Franzel)
Artist Statement…"Trust in love," I often hear inwardly -- and I am reminded often because I forget it often! The contrast between faith and fear reminds me of the old Native American story about a young brave who asks his grandfather which of two fighting “wolves” would win the most ground, and the warrior-wise grandfather answers, “the one you feed.” It seems that our minds often feed our fears, while the heart is always the part of us that brings us back again to love and faith. Not that we should leave our minds behind while practicing faith, but that our minds, used rightly, can help us to put faith into loving action. I took this picture from the front terrace of the old stone Grove Park Inn in Asheville looking out toward the Blue Ridge Mountains where I went for a couple days to contemplate and write. And what an inspiring place for it, with a huge fireplace of stones engraved with inspirational quotes -- giving literal context to the saying "written in stone!"
