Fresco Angel Cards
Fresco paintings have a unique quality of transmitting both the vagaries of time and the timelessness of the artist's skill and reverence for his subject. The four paintings featured here of Angels which are details from 12th-16th century frescoes throughout Europe have captivated me. As I sat with each one wondering about its beginning and studying expression and posture, I listened for a message and a meaning that would somehow speak to that part of the human heart that is timeless and yet also to the needs of our own time.
Angels do not "belong" to any one religion, and our experiences of them are often profoundly personal. These 5x7" cards are beautifully applicable not only for the holidays but also year-round for a variety of occasions and sentiments. The back of each card identifies the artist, the work title and location of the fresco (except where artist or origin is unknown), and any interesting details. In addition, the use of digital printing on a natural fiber cardstock gives a richness to the image that seems as if you could reach out and touch the flaking fresco. Single cards are packaged with a cream-colored envelope and a clear sleeve. Boxed sets of 8 or 12 are packaged in a kraft bottom box with a clear sliding top so that the top card is visible.
