Joni Grâce, a native of Ontario, Canada, has been capturing the landscape of her world with words and images for most of her life. Joni has had a deep affinity with the natural world since she was a 16-year-old adventurer lured by the lakes and woodlands of the west coast of Canada and the Ontario cottage country. Joni's works explore her passion for the deeper mysteries of life and for curating the "greening" of soil and soul and the paradoxical mysteries of ebb and flow that interweave human nature and the natural world.
Joni's work with Terah began in March 2020 when she shared some of her journal writings with Terah, who instantly resonated with Joni’s poetic prose and her affinity for the natural world. As with the nature-infused poetry of Mary Oliver, there was an existential tone to the writings—the inner human seeking and finding wisdom through the wonders of nature. Terah suggested that they turn Joni's writings into poetic verse, and they began in March of 2020, a time of challenge and change for the entire world. Feeling in the Gap was released Spring 2021; Carried Away in 2022 and The Ongoing in 2023. In the Spring of 2024, they began work on The Little Book of Living in the Ongoing, an ode to the natural world and the seasons of our lives, a poetic narrative with full color illustrations that represents a maturation of the wisdom in The Ongoing.
All four works are held together by the progression of seasons that interweave the natural world and seasons of humanity that are both deeply personal, and also universal, to the heart and soul within us all. All have been published under Joni's nom de plume.
