"WRITING WITHOUT WORDS"

FORMAT: Introduction to the concept of “writing without words,” discussion and sharing of work and interactive inspiration and writing exercises PROGRAM A: "WRITING WITHOUT WORDS” offers an adventurous map to the inspiration experience and the mysteries of “co-creation” that occur when we journey as a "Writer-Seeker" beyond writing what we already know into the realm of what we want to know. Reach higher, dive deeper and journey farther in -- into the "sea of wordlessness" -- to receive the gifts that will transform you into a gatherer of words that have the power to touch and even help to transform others. If you’re struggling to start or continue writing on a project, if you’re dealing with so-called writer’s block, lackluster work or just lack of ideas or motivation -- this workshop can help you cut through years of writer-struggles. You will be invited to share your writing dreams and dilemmas, and Terah will share with you the teaching that permanently cured her own writer’s block and catapulted her into a professional career as a lyric and jingle writer, greeting card and word art writer-designer, as well as an author of several books. PROGRAM B: "WRITING WITHOUT WORDS," with guest KERRY FLEUR, improvisational singer-writer-artist. The inspiration for bringing Kerry as a guest to this workshop came from a workshop participant who commented that it would be nice to have a palpable experience of going to that ‘sea of wordlessness’ described in the workshop.” Kerry’s artistry does just that. I got to know Kerry (who lives in London) during a program at the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland as we kept getting paired up in our work and activities there. I discovered that she has an amazing gift as an improvisational singer, and I arranged for her to give a concert one afternoon in the Findhorn gardens. She riveted us! Her voice and her song seemed to start in an otherworldly place -– a place with no words, only feeling and formless sounds -– which slowly and beautifully became words and melody. She never prepares or repeats her creations -- they are made in the moment and in collaboration with the energies of all who are present, both visible and invisible. Kerry will demonstrate in the “Writing Without Words” workshop what it feels like to venture into the unknown, into the place where things are not yet formed -- to seek not words, but the thing we love -- and to be given, finally, for the sake of that love, all the words we could want. FROM AN INTERVIEW WITH TERAH: “A young man walked into my word-art exhibit, and we began to talk about writing. He told me he had started writing during a time of difficulty in his life, but he was struggling now because he couldn’t seem to write anything “good” unless he was going through some kind of pain or adversity. In that moment I realized what years of a writing life had taught me: ‘Pain is not wise,’ I told him. ‘Pain is just an opener. It comes to crack open a door in you so that the thing which knows everything can enter. That thing is LOVE. If you want omnipotence as a writer, you must seek the thing you love, and love the thing you seek more than you fear not finding it...’”
